I always love the idea of being with nature to listen to the birds as they chirp and create melodies that soothe my heart that aches because of too many emotional turbulences and to feel the grass that tickles my feet that get tired of the never-ending hustles and bustles of living in the city.
Aminin na natin, I think I am not the only one who needs a temporary escape and a nature’s therapy. Sa dami ba naman ng problema na kinakaharap natin sa araw-araw, who wouldn’t need a breather?
In this article, I am going to introduce you to a dear friend of mine who is a young educator and who also has the biggest love for nature and outdoor activities, especially for places which are not yet known to people. Her name is Wennie Rose, and like the mischievous flower, her free-spirited and outgoing personalities push her to plant and grow herself in the most unexpected places, and I’m such a lucky person to hear the narratives of her adventures with her lover, friends, and family. In fact, she shared a story of her adventures in Suhoton Beach in Siruma, one of the far-flung municipalities in the province of Camarines Sur, and the reasons why it is a perfect place to visit this summer.
If you love travelling, it’s a perfect place to visit this summer
“Maogmahon magpara-travel lalo na ta saro sa dreams ko, talaga, is to explore the world,” Wennie joyfully said.
Wennie couldn’t hide her bliss while she was recalling her past adventures. I could really tell na she super enjoys going out lalo na kapag kasama niya yung mga taong importante sa kanya.
She also said that one of the reasons why she always craves to see new places is because the “outdoor” affirms her freedom and confirms that she is alive.
“I believe that if there’s a chance or opportunity for me to relax, I will grab it.”
Ang ganda lang na despite her busy schedule, she still manages to value her life and her freedom to a whole new level which is through exploring undiscovered places.
When I asked how different Suhoton is to her previous beach escapades, she said that it was a “journey” to remember. Halos tatlong oras naman kasi ang naging biyahe nila, so imagine the challenges that they have encountered like bumpy roads, lalo na papasok ng isla, para lamang mapuntahan ang Suhoton, hindi talaga matatawaran ang thirst ni Wennie for adventures.
“Sa apat na oras na travelling time kasi, I get to know more my partner and my friends. Kasi we need to do some stopovers tapos sa bawat hihintuan namin, magpi-picture kami, magtatawanan, mag-aasaran, tapos magmumuni-muni ng mga naging buhay namin simula noong high school and elementary years na magkakasama kami,” Wennie smilingly uttered.
I couldn’t agree more sa sinabi ni Wennie. I guess, more than the destinations, it was the journey that keeps us searching for more places to go- for more stopovers and detours where we can create more memories that we can cherish for the rest of our lives.
It has human stories that make it a perfect place to visit this summer
“In every place that I visit, sinisigurado ko na may mga babaunin akong kwento mula sa mga taong posible kong ma-meet sa pupuntahan ko,” Wennie shared.
I know Wennie and she really has an amazing way of connecting to other people; that’s why I wasn’t surprised when she was able to know a thing or two about the way of life of the locals in Suhoton.
“Aram mo daw? Grabe lang si mga istorya kang mga niyaon duman sa Suhoton. It was just a small place, in fact, sarong pamilya man lang ngani ang niyaon duman, although may mga parasira na nagtatagabisita everytime na nagpapalaot sinda, but their stories are very rich in morals.”
“Some of the people I met in Suhoton were fishermen. They shared how they live on that island- the beauty of living with nature, the tiresome routine of sailing out at midnight just to meet the ends of their families, and also the scary idea that every time a storm comes, they get anxious and afraid for their homes, their families, and their boats.”
This is the part where we could all relate with the aspirations and fears of Suhoton fishermen. All of us, no matter what our status is, we all live in a world where we continuously aspire and dream despite our fears– and these are the kinds of stories that you will find in Suhoton, stories that can mend our broken souls.
“I am amazed with all of these. I can’t do what they can do. Every time I travel, I’m not just for the place but I appreciate more the locals who are living their simple lives there,” Wennie added.
It has a beauty that makes it a perfect place to visit this summer
I know that we have our own takes on the concept of paradise. Maybe sa iba ito yung pakiramdam na kasama mo yung taong mahal mo o dili kaya’y isang lugar na malaya kang gawin ang lahat ng ninanais ng iyong puso at kaluluwa. But for sure, all of us would picture a place with trees, flowers, beach in our heads kapag naririnig natin ang salitang paraiso.
Not all of us would be lucky to find a paradise, but Wennie, being the explorer that she is, found all of these- the love, the freedom, and the natural aesthetics in Suhoton.
“Suhoton Beach is a place that is peaceful, beautiful, and has a very positive vibe. It is like a paradise for me. It is a place where I was able to appreciate the beauty of God’s creation.”
“This place is just full of coconut trees, small caves, stones, pinkish sand and you’ll never get tired of just staring at the deep blue sea. Indeed, it is a place where you can reflect and find peace,” Wennie fondly said.
At one point, nainggit ako sa mga kwento ni Wennie. Gusto ko rin pumunta and ma-experience ang ganda ng Suhoton, especially after she said that everything is free in the said beach- no entrance fee, no environmental fee, and most importantly, you are free to stay overnight.
Now, all I can think about is to go to Suhoton Beach and experience the three reasons my dear friend, Wennie, shared why it is the perfect place to visit this summer.
