Experience Balatan: Green mountains, enchanting falls, and refreshing lagoon

Recently, I have spoken with a very adventurous person who shared his travel experience in Balatan and how he was able to savor the green mountains, enchanting falls, and refreshing lagoons in one of the remote places in Camarines Sur.

People say that we find “treasures” in places that we do not normally visit, hence for someone like me na takot na mag-explore, it would really become impossible to find things that are worth golds.

Buti na lang there are other ways on how I can experience these “treasures”- through looking at the narratives of other people.

Recently, I have spoken with a very adventurous person who shared his travel experience in Balatan and how he was able to savor the green mountains, enchanting falls, and refreshing lagoons in one of the remote places in Camarines Sur.

The treasure

Balatan is a fourth class municipality in the fourth district of Camarines Sur. Its neighbouring municipalities are Bula, Bato, and Nabua, and it is also bordering on the Ragay Gulf.

It is amazing to note that despite Balatan being mountainous, it openly offers mesmerizing bodies of waters such as seas and lagoons.

I’ve been to this place for quite some time already.  In fact, before the pandemic, my family and I always visit this place every summer not just because this is one of the nearest vacation places in my hometown but also for its truly beautiful beaches.

Papasok pa lang ng Balatan, you could already feel that there’s a huge amount of beauty hiding behind the mountain walls- it would really radiate and travel through your soul na parang magsasabing “you deserve this relaxation which I could only give”

Although in this article I am not going to focus on the beaches in Balatan, rather I wanna highlight the paradisiacal Nagsusom Falls and Blue Lagoon, which I haven’t personally visited but I am also equally excited to see.

Now, let us see more of the said places, and there’s no best way to do it but to use photos, which luckily, were generously shared by Joseph in his Facebook account.

How to seek the treasure

If you’re going to commute, take a bus or van going straight to Balatan and ask the driver to drop you off at San Vicente Ferrer Chapel in Barangay Laganac. From there, you have to walk for at least 10 meters and ride a habal-habal and instruct the driver to take you to Nagsusom Falls that can be found in Barangay Cayogcog.

Why seek the treasure

There are things that even money can’t compensate and two of those are peace and relaxation. So, if you are tired and you feel like you are stuck in the loop of work-sleep-work, it’s time for you to make a brave decision to explore places that will bring you joy- and don’t forget to add Balatan to your list.
